ICT serves customers conducting research around the world. Our global distributor network can get you the products you need quickly.
Founded in 1994 by four managing partners, ImmunoChemistry Technologies has grown to become a strong business with an international distributor network and loyal and ever-expanding customer base working in biomedical research labs all over the world.
After starting out as a contract laboratory focusing on custom immunoassay development and ELISA reagents, ICT expanded its product lines in 1999. At that time, the company developed detection reagents for cell death and related areas of basic research. Today, ICT has over 30 distributors selling these products worldwide.
President, Chief Manager, Owner
Sally Hed is President, Chief Manager, and owner of ImmunoChemistry Technologies (ICT); she provides strategic direction and oversees all day-to-day operations of the company. Her first role with the company was as a scientist when it was in its start-up phase. Over the next 20 years, she helped develop products and build the company into the profitable business it is today, with a solid customer base and an international distributor network serving labs all over the world. Sally became sole owner in 2016 after buying out the other partners upon their retirement. She earned a bachelor’s degree in genetics and cell biology from the University of Minnesota in 1991 and an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University in 1999. She has always been interested in biology and seeks to understand how cells differentiate into specific tissue types, reproduce, and die. She is honored to be a part of the medical research community to help cure diseases by providing reagents which have been cited in over 1500 publications.
Brian Lee, Ph.D.
Technical Consultant R&D
Dr. Brian W. Lee co-founded ICT in 1994 and served as its Chief Manager and eventually President from October 2011 until March 2016. On March 31st 2016, Dr. Lee and his wife sold their 2/3 ownership interest to their long time business partner, Ms. Sally Hed. He has been retained as a member of the company staff, acting in the role of technical advisor. His present role is focused upon assuring a smooth hand-off of ICT’s technical expertise to the remaining R&D staff. His prior responsibilities included the development of new products, managing contract ELISA development projects, and overseeing research & development and production activities. He is credited with providing both the technical and product-formulation guidance enabling the development of all of ICT’s ELISA Solutions products. Under his scientific direction, ICT was also able to expand its product line focus to include the fluorescence-based intracellular protease detection marketplace. Some of these product concepts include the cell membrane permeant Magic Red fluorogenic substrates as well as the FLICA product line. Previous to founding ICT, Dr. Lee developed ELISAs at R&D Systems and rapid assay concepts at SurModics. In 1992, Dr. Lee earned a PhD from the University of Minnesota, Department of Veterinary PathoBiology. Research focus: methods development for serodiagnosis and nasal swab (direct virus detection) of Influenza A virus infection in swine.
Director of R&D and Quality Control
Tracy started her career at ICT in 2003 as a Production & Research Associate where she was responsible for the manufacture and QC of ICT’s entire product catalog. As a new graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Cell Biology, she welcomed the opportunity to hone her budding skills as a bench level scientist under the direction of ICT’s chief scientific staff. Before long she was making contributions to custom laboratory service jobs and R&D projects, eventually taking on more of a leadership role and helping to grow the company into what it is today. These days Tracy directs ICT’s scientific staff, working to expand our product offerings with a specific focus on our life science tools/cell status indicator products for monitoring a wide range of intracellular parameters.
