Non-Radioactive:
These assays are much faster, safer, and less expensive alternatives to traditional radioisotope-based assays.
Direct:
The assays provide a direct measurement of cytotoxicity rather than using an indirect indicator, such as the release of LDH or ATP enzymes.
Accurate:
The Total Cytotoxicity Test kits also include a caspase-detection probe, allowing for the measurement of apoptosis in the assay in addition to necrosis. Including apoptotic activity allows for a more accurate assessment of total cytolytic activity. At least 10 percent more cytolytic activity is often measured when apoptotic cells are also identified.
